BC Belleflamme (U12) and NINERS Chemnitz Academy (U13) win the 4th Noah-Berge-Cup
From 29 to 31 May, 32 teams from seven different countries competed in East Germany’s largest youth basketball tournament. Around 400 players in the U12 and U13 age groups spent a good 42 hours of net playing time on the court before the winners were decided on Sunday.
In the U12 final, the Belgian team BC Belleflamme beat the hosts, NINERS Chemnitz Academy, 64:38. Third place was secured by last year’s defending champions from France, Bretzel Team Alsace, with an 82:48 victory over VR-Bank Würzburg Baskets Akademie.
In the U13 category, the hosts, NINERS Chemnitz Academy, secured first place in the final in a thrilling match against Tygři Praha (50:45). In the third-place game, BBU 01 Ulm beat the English team Manchester Giants 54:34.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who ensured the tournament ran smoothly. A total of 104 matches were played, requiring around 50 officials, as many volunteers for organisation, catering, medical support and media coverage, as well as over 20 referees, who had travelled from all over Saxony.
